CP in Motion Bake Sale

Cerebral Palsy in Motion, a running club here at CdM, hosted a bake sale at Balboa during the Boat Parade. All funds received would be used to buy prosthetics and braces for kids who have physical disabilities that impair movement.
Seven members helped out, including me Miranda Chang, and they kept track of the money paid, made hot chocolate, handed out cookies and cupcakes, and sold food around several blocks. Though the night was chilly, and the passersby ignored us, we succeeded in capturing people’s hearts about CP in Motion.

People who went up to the stand had choice from an array of chocolate chip, oatmeal, and sugar cookies, fluffy cupcakes, toasty hot chocolate, and chocolate chip granola bars. With every purchase, people were a given a free candy cane for their generous donation. By pricing cookies $1 for 2, cupcakes $1 each, hot chocolate for $2, and snacks and granola bars for $1 each, the club raised $290 for the children!
Secretary of CP in Motion, Ivara Roth, loved helping out and said, “I think it’s a great idea for us to raise money since we’re doing so for such a good cause. I was happy that we’d found such a perfect time to host it, there were tons of people at the boat parade, and it was certainly a cold enough night to warrant some hot chocolate and cookies.”
With these braces and prosthetics on the way, these kids will sure be ecstatic and eager to run!
